Beyond the buzzword: The real-world challenges of data integration for One Health
As efforts to protect human, animal, and environmental health intensify, « One Health » has become a ubiquitous mantra. Yet its implementation through data integration remains fraught with real-world challenges. This keynote moves beyond the buzzword to explore the tension between the promise of unified data and the messy reality of fragmented systems. We will navigate the core injunctions of modern data science–to digitize everything, to be genuinely transdisciplinary, to integrate across scales, and to share data–arguing that the path forward is not a single, monolithic system, but a just and interoperable ecosystem. Drawing from concrete examples like global SARS-CoV-2 animal data and transdisciplinary prioritization of climate-sensitive diseases, the talk highlights lessons learned from managing, curating, and analyzing cross-sectoral datasets.

New Tools & Integrated Data to Meet One Health Challenges
The promise of unified data versus the reality of fragmented systems. Drawing from concrete examples — global SARS-CoV-2 animal data, climate-sensitive disease prioritisation — Dr Desvars-Larrivé explores how AI, big data analytics and real-time surveillance can transform our ability to detect, predict and respond at the human–animal–environment interface.
