Amélie Desvars-Larrive to Deliver Keynote on Data Integration Challenges at ONE H Congress 2026

Amélie Desvars-Larrive will deliver a keynote on the real-world challenges of data integration in One Health. Her work combines epidemiology, modelling, and data science to understand disease dynamics across species. Join her at ONE H Congress 2026 to explore how interoperable ecosystems can replace fragmented systems.

We are delighted to welcome Amélie Desvars-Larrive as keynote speaker for the session “Beyond the Buzzword: The Real-World Challenges of Data Integration for One Health” at the ONE H Congress 2026.

Amélie is Associate Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna and a Faculty Member at the Complexity Science Hub Vienna, where she leads the research topic Health Across Species. A veterinarian by training, she also holds a Master’s in Parasitology and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology.

Her career spans fieldwork and modelling at the human-animal-environment interface. From studying leptospirosis and chikungunya in the Indian Ocean to modelling tularemia outbreaks in Sweden and investigating urban rats as zoonotic reservoirs in Vienna, her work reflects a deep commitment to interdisciplinary research.

Today, Amélie focuses on how better data, smarter models, and stronger cross-sector partnerships can reduce spillover risks and strengthen health system resilience. Her keynote will challenge the notion of a monolithic data system and advocate for a just, interoperable ecosystem. Drawing from examples such as global SARS-CoV-2 animal data and climate-sensitive disease prioritization, she will share lessons learned from managing and analyzing cross-sectoral datasets.

University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna

Founded in 1765, the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna (Vetmeduni) is one of the oldest and most prestigious veterinary schools in the world. As Austria’s only academic and research institution dedicated exclusively to veterinary sciences, Vetmeduni plays a leading role in advancing animal health, food safety, and biomedical research. The university combines rigorous academic programs with cutting-edge research across disciplines such as comparative biomedicine, human-animal interactions, and precision animal health. Its commitment to One Health is reflected in its interdisciplinary approach and its integration of environmental and public health perspectives into veterinary education and research. [+]

Complexity Science Hub Vienna

The Complexity Science Hub Vienna (CSH) is a pioneering research institute dedicated to understanding and managing complex systems through data-driven science. Established in 2015, CSH brings together experts from mathematics, computer science, epidemiology, economics, and social sciences to tackle global challenges such as pandemics, climate change, and systemic risk. The Hub’s interdisciplinary approach enables the development of innovative models and tools that translate massive datasets into actionable insights. With a strong focus on public health, resilience, and sustainability, CSH fosters collaboration across sectors and disciplines to build robust, adaptive systems for the benefit of society. [+]

Pre-Conference Workshop | Longitudinal and Retrospective Statistical Analyses of Epidemiological Data

📅 Wednesday, June 3, 2026 | 9:30 AM | Saint-Quay Portrieux Congress Centre 🆓 Free — Registration required | Limited to 15 participants

The environment is a major determinant of population health, and endemic diseases — whether of environmental, animal, or human origin — pose persistent threats to ecosystems and human well-being. This half-day workshop offers a practical introduction to two complementary analytical approaches: longitudinal cohort analysis and retrospective seroepidemiological methods.

Participants will alternate between theoretical sessions and hands-on exercises based on real-world datasets, using R for data analysis.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and apply the fundamental principles of longitudinal analysis of epidemiological data
  • Use sero-catalytic models to analyze seroprevalence data
  • Identify and estimate key epidemiological parameters (confounding factors, transmission rates, incidence rates, infection forces, etc.)

Audience Up to 15 young researchers (doctoral and postdoctoral students) working in disease modelling and registered to OneH2026. A good knowledge of R is required. The list of R packages will be sent a few days in advance.

The Training Team

  • Anne-Claire Binter — IRSET, Rennes
  • Andrea Apolloni — ANSES, Ploufragan
  • Mathieu Andraud — ANSES, Ploufragan

Distinguished Guest Speaker | Dr Baba Soumaré, WOAH

We are honoured to welcome Dr Baba Soumaré as Distinguished Guest Speaker at OneH2026 – The One Health Challenges to Tackle Infectious Diseases, taking place in Saint-Quay Portrieux, France, from June 3 to 5, 2026.

A leading voice for One Health

As Deputy Director General for Global Frameworks and Capacity Building at WOAH (World Organisation for Animal Health), Dr Soumaré provides strategic oversight on One Health, scientific networking, emergency preparedness, biological threats reduction and the strengthening of Veterinary Services worldwide.

A career built on the ground

A Veterinary Epidemiologist holding a PhD in animal health economics, Dr Soumaré has dedicated his career to building resilient health systems at the human-animal-environment interface. He previously headed FAO’s Emergency Centers for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD), transforming national and regional capacities to prevent, detect and mitigate health threats originating in animals.

As Africa Regional Director for Preparedness and Response under the Global Health Security Agenda, he piloted the operationalization of One Health across the continent — establishing functional National One Health Platforms and developing multisectoral preparedness plans against emerging pandemic threats.

At OneH2026

Dr Soumaré will deliver the opening distinguished guest address on Wednesday, June 3, setting the tone for three days of scientific exchange and collaboration.
